Hagi resigns from Galatasaray job
Romanian Gheorghe Hagi has resigned as coach of Turkish side Galatasaray after just one year in charge. Hagi stepped down after his side's final game of the season - a 4-0 thumping of Denizlispor which saw his side finish third. He said: "I decided to resign 10 days ago but only made my decision public after the last match of the season. "I have felt alone in my job the whole season and failed to accomplish my plans. "But I'm satisfied with my work. I built a new, positive team and revived the careers of some players considered too old by the media and officials." Hagi is now considering a return to his homeland with Steaua Bucharest - who recently sacked manager Walter Zenga. Hagi won 125 caps for his country and was named the Romanian player of the century. But a brief spell as national boss came to an end when he failed to guide his team to the World Cup finals of 2002.
