Grimsby Town Jones extends his stay at Grimsby
Grimsby defender Rob Jones has committed himself to the club for a further season on a one-year deal.
The 6'7" defender signed joined the club last August and has played 18 games for Grimsby this season.
"I've been in and out a lot, but I think I've proved over the last four games what Rob Jones is all about," he told the Mariners World website.
"Hopefully that will stand me in good stead for next season," said the former Macclesfield and Stockport big man.

McDermott staying put at Mariners Long-serving Grimsby Town defender John McDermott is to play on at Blundell Park for at least another season.
The 36-year-old full-back has agreed a new 12-month deal which will see him combine playing and coaching duties.
"I'm lucky to still be playing. I think I am returning a favour to the fans, who have been fantastic," McDermott told Grimsby's website.
McDermott has been at Grimsby for 18 years and holds the club record with 591 League appearances.
The veteran is the longest serving player currently in the League.

Grimsby boss keen to sign keeper Grimsby boss Russell Slade wants to sign a keeper and is currently in talks with a yet unnamed player believed to be from a Championship side.
Slade told the club's website: "We definitely need to have two goalkeepers at the club.
"We have been speaking to a keeper and we have Rob Murray, who will probably be our third keeper."
Meanwhile the Mariners have offered a new deal to Anthony Williams and he is thinking over the offer.

Fleming rejects Grimsby contract Experienced midfielder Terry Fleming looks set to leave Grimsby after turning down a new contract offer.
The 32-year-old moved to Blundell Park after leaving Cambridge last summer.
Mariners' chairman John Fenty said: "He was offered a contract to stay with the club but did not accept it. Since then we have reviewed that offer.
"We will know more next week when I have spoken to the manager but at the moment it looks unlikely that Terry will be a Grimsby player next season."

Mariners set to net striker Cohen Grimsby Town are set to sign striker Gary Cohen from Scottish Third Division champions Gretna on a season-long loan.
Cohen, 21, previously played under Mariners boss Russell Slade in the Conference at Scarborough.
The ex-Watford player joined Gretna in July, 2003 and spent this season on loan at Workington, where he scored 20 times to help the Reds to promotion.
"I know what Gary is all about. He is quick and can play out wide or up the middle," said Slade.

Aiston not making Grimsby switch Shrewsbury Town winger Sam Aiston has changed his mind and decided not to sign for Grimsby Town.
Mariners boss Russell Slade told the club's website: "We are disappointed having agreed terms verbally and shaken on the deal with the player.
"Players are the first to moan when the goal posts are changed. I think he is wrong in what he has done."
Aiston was expected to sign for Grimsby on Wednesday but is set to make the move to Darlington.

Striker Palmer makes Grimsby move Grimsby Town have signed Stoke City striker Jermaine Palmer on one-year deal at Blundell Park.
Palmer, 18, had limited opportunities with the Potters and only played once for the senior side last term.
Grimsby manager Russell Slade told the club website: "He came earlier in the season for us to have a look at him and he impressed us then.
"He then came back towards the end of the season and he had improved again and I'm sure there is more to come."

Oldham boost defence with Forbes Oldham have signed Grimsby defender Terrell Forbes on a two-year contract.
"This signing is a blessing in disguise and I'm looking forward to coming to the club and getting my head down," the right-back, 23, told Oldham's website.
"I'm excited about becoming part of the building of a new team and all I want to do is come here and play football."
Manager Ronnie Moore has also secured the ongoing services of midfielder Mark Hughes, 21, who signed a new two-year deal with the Latics.

Slade demanding answer from Crowe Grimsby boss Russell Slade has given defender Jason Crowe the weekend to decide if he will accept his offer of a new contract at Blundell Park.
"We've had a bit of dialogue. It is clear Jason has been touting himself to different clubs," Slade revealed.
"As far as I'm concerned, it is important that I target players to replace him, players that play in the areas of the pitch that he does.
"We have given him until Monday to make his mind up," he told the club website.

Slade dismisses Williams rumours Grimsby boss Russell Slade has quashed rumours that keeper Anthony Williams will re-sign for the Mariners.
Slade told the club's website: "I spoke to Anthony last week but I don't think he will be coming in to sign.
"I have targeted a keeper though and hopefully there will be something there soon," he added.
Meanwhile, Slade is confident that defender Justin Whittle, who played 42 games last season, will sign a new deal when he returns from holiday

Mariners sign midfielder Barwick Grimsby manager Russell Slade has continued the restructuring of his squad with the signing of former Scunthorpe midfielder Terry Barwick.
Barwick, 22, has agreed a two-year deal following his release from the Glanford Park club at the end of last season.
He started almost 50 games for Iron but had no role in their promotion success.
Meanwhile, Mariners defender Justin Whittle, 34, has agreed to extend his deal, while Iron striker Andy Parton, 21, has joined Stalybridge Celtic

Forfar dismiss offer for Shields Forfar Athletic have rejected an offer from Grimsby Town for free-scoring striker Paul Shields.
The 23-year-old, who joined Celtic for £100,000 from Raith Rovers as a teenager, knocked in 24 goals for the Loons last season.
"We received a bid from Grimsby for Paul Shields, but their offer was insulting quite frankly," manager Brian Fairley told the club website.
"The ball is back in their court again as far as Paul is concerned."

Keeper Williams joins Carlisle Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson has completed his first signing of the summer with the capture of former Grimsby goalkeeper Anthony Williams.
The 27-year-old has agreed a two-year deal at Brunton Park after rejecting a new offer from the Mariners.
Williams was an ever-present in League Two for Grimsby last season after joining the club from Hartlepool.
Simpson made his move for the former Wales under-21 international after Matt Glennon left the Cumbrians.

Grimsby sign young keeper Lukic Grimsby Town have signed teenage goalkeeper John Lukic.
The 19-year-old son of former Arsenal and Leeds keeper John senior has been released by Nottingham Forest.
Lukic told Grimsby's website: "My dad hasn't coached me but has always been there and comes to all my games. It'd be nice to follow in his footsteps.

Flahavan agrees new Southend deal Southend keeper Darryl Flahavan has rejected offers from a host of other clubs to agree a new two-year deal.
Bristol Rovers, Grimsby, Northampton and Rushden & Diamonds were all keen on signing the 27-year-old shot-stopper.
Flahavan was impressive at the back end of last season, three clean sheets in a row helping the Shrimpers win promotion to League One via the play-offs.
He said: "I had offers to go elsewhere but Southend was always my number one option. I really enjoy it here."
