Gregory: Rangers deserved much more
QPR boss John Gregory felt his side could consider themselves hard done by following their 1-1 draw with Leicester.
After losing an early goal for the fourth match out of six under Gregory through Patrick Kisnorbo's effort, Rangers dominated but had to wait for a Martin Rowlands' penalty for a handball that saw Gareth McAuley sent off midway through the second half to equalise.
It prevented the QPR from slipping to a third straight defeat but Gregory thought the performance, which saw Dexter Blackstock have a number of efforts and Rowlands also hit the post, merited more.
The Rangers boss said: \"It was more than deserved and I think (Leicester manager) Rob Kelly was happy to get away with a point.
\"We had lots of possession and lots of good chances. The boys know they should have won that game.
\"Maybe with just a little bit more composure in the last third and we could have turned that into a victory.\"
Gregory admits he wants to see a change in the way his side start games, having given the opposition a goal start in the majority of the games since he took over last month.
He added: \"We've got one or two that tend not to start until after about an hour which is a serious problem.
\"In the second half defensively they did their jobs extremely well but there are one or two who tend to start half an hour after everybody else.\"
Six games into his reign, Gregory says he will make firm judgements on his players in another four matches.
He continued: \"After 10 games you get to see their good games and bad games and you can make a much better assessment.\"
Leicester manager Kelly had no complaints about McAuley's dismissal but praised his side's character following their backs to the wall performance.
It was all the more impressive considering City lost out 3-2 in extra time to Aston Villa in the Carling Cup in midweek.
McAuley had admitted he handled and the Foxes boss felt his side did well to come away with a draw.
He said: \"The lad says it was handball so he's an honest lad. It was a hell of a spot (by the referee).
\"I think if we'd won the game we'd have ridden our luck but it was a magnificent effort from our players.
\"We couldn't have asked any more of them off the back of a really hectic schedule.\"
Although four have been drawn, Leicester extended their unbeaten run to seven matches and Kelly added: \"We've got a base to go from.
\"We haven't lost for seven games and we've drawn too many of them but it's important we don't lose.
\"We've got that resilience and it's a young outfit which I believe will get better.\"
