Gills Look At Hoops Defender
Gills manager Mark Stimson has confirmed that QPR defender Dominic Shimmin is currently training with the club.
The 20-year-old cut short a loan spell at weekend opponents Bournemouth earlier this week after just two appearances for the Cherries.
And Shimmin, who started his career at Arsenal before moving to the Hoops in 2005, is now with the Gills and Mark Stimson has been impressed with him so far.
He told the club's official website: '(He is doing) Quite well. He played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Ebbsfleet United and he is continuing to train with us.'
Stimson also confirmed the departure of youth team coach Scott Fitzgerald and revealed he has someone in mind to take over the role as his overhaul of the backroom staff at the club continues.
He added: 'Scott was offered the Millwall academy job and has decided to take it. He only lives a few miles from the ground and he played there so it was tempting for him.
'He has gone now and we will look to be making an appointment in the next couple of days.
'I only worked with him for a few weeks but his outlook on the games was good. I can't stand in his way, he wanted to go to Millwall and I am someone who believes that if you don't want to be here then you should move on.'
