Time to do the basics - Stimson
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson wants his players to concentrate on the simple aspects of their game as they bid to stay in League One. The Gills lost 4-0 to Hartlepool on Saturday and remain in the relegation zone with 11 games to go. "Don't try anything spectacular. We need an eight out of 10, like Adam Miller," Stimson told SSB. "If eight players play like Adam Miller we won't be in this position but if we've only got one or two we will be."

Stone and Milsom leave Brentford
Craig Stone and Rob Milsom are back at their clubs after the completion of their loan spells at Brentford. Milsom, who returns to Fulham, and Stone, back at Gillingham, both made five appearances each. "The return of both John Mousinho and Kevin O'Connor coming back to fitness has enabled us to release Craig back to Gillingham," said boss Andy Scott. "Kevin resumed full-time squad training - if he gets through this week n he will be in contention for Saturday."

Gills players deserve to stay up
Gillingham boss Mark Stimson believes his side will remain in League One, despite currently being five points from safety with just seven games left. Stimson believes the Gills can get results they need in their remaining home games against Carlisle, Swindon and Swansea to help avoid relegation. He told SSB: "The bunch of players who have travelled to Port Vale deserve to stay in this division. "And I think they will because they've got the right attitude." The attitude of other members of the squad - including four players who missed trained last week - has angered the Gills boss who has promised a big clear-out in the summer. Meanwhile, Gills midfielder Adam Miller is facing a hernia operation in the summer, though he will continue to play until the end of the season.

Wycombe bag striker Facey on loan
Promotion-chasing Wycombe have signed much-travelled Gillingham striker Delroy Facey on loan until the end of the season. The 27-year-old former Bolton man has scored just three goals in 34 matches for the Gills this season. Chairboys boss Paul Lambert told the club website: "He is just the type of player we've been looking for. "We tried to get Paul Furlong but Luton weren't prepared to let him go. Delroy is a younger version of him."

Gills duo to see out Grays season
Grays Athletic have extended the loan deals of Stuart Thurgood and Barry Cogan until the end of the season. Both midfielders joined the mid-table Blue Square Premier side from League One outfit Gillingham in March. Cogan, 22, has been influential in the side's nine-match unbeaten run, scoring five times in eight games. Thurgood, 26, has also played eight times during his second spell with the club, having previously spent four years at the New Recreation Ground.

Stone joins Charles at Ebbsfleet
Former Gillingham midfielder Craig Stone has become Ebbsfleet United's second new addition of the summer. The arrival of the teenager, released by the Gills a month ago, follows hot on the heels of defender Darius Charles on a year-long loan from Brentford. Stone, 19, who spent two months as a team-mate of Charles' at Brentford last season, made 20 Gills appearances. Fleet boss Liam Daish said: "He comes with good reports, he's athletic. He's going to be a good addition." Daish, who is due to welcome his players back to pre-season training at the beginning of next month, is also looking for another midfielder and a couple of strikers.

Miller facing tough competition
Gillingham midfielder Adam Miller will to have will have more competition for his place in the starting 11, according to manager Mark Stimson. Miller, 26, was ever-present when fit last season, but he has been on the bench for the last couple of games. With the capture of Charlie Daniels and Curtis Weston, Stimson told BBC Radio Kent it will be tough for Miller to break into the side. "Adam's just got to get on with it and be a professional," said Stimson. "If he gets another opportunity I'm sure he'll grab it. Adam can play in a few other positions as well. "When he first came here he played behind the front man and he has also played in the centre of the pitch, so there's other opportunities."

Gillingham boss feeling the heat
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson has admitted the pressure is on him after his side's 3-0 loss at Exeter - their third successive away defeat. Stimson told Radio Kent he felt many Gills fans who travelled to Devon were left questioning his future. "Possibly out of the 400, 399 would probably say 'get rid of the manager'. "'He's not good enough, he hasn't bought the players in that are going to get us out of this league'. I'd argue that of course," said Stimson. "All I'd say to them is keep supporting the team because they need it - probably more so now than ever."

Pressure off Gills boss Stimson
The pressure has eased from Gillingham manager Mark Stimson after their 5-0 win over Morecambe. It was the League Two club's biggest win since they beat Preston on the opening day of the 2001/2 season. Stimson told Radio Kent: "Fantastic result, fantastic performance. We have been missing a few players lately and that does harm your team. "There's been no pressure on me. Pressure is when you've got three weeks to live or you can't pay the mortgage." Stimson added: "I'm just going to keep doing what I believe in and wherever that takes me, it takes me." It was the club's first game since Stimson transferred the captaincy from Andrew Crofts to Barry Fuller. It also saw the return of strikers Gary Mulligan to the starting line-up after injury and Mark McCammon to the squad after suspension.

Gillingham transfer-list Crofts
Gillingham have transfer-listed Wales international midfielder Andrew Crofts. The 24-year-old was stripped of the Gills' captaincy while away with the Welsh squad in mid-October, and was dropped from the team on his return. The Gills youth-team product has played over 180 times for the club and has won 12 international caps. Meanwhile, fellow midfielder Albert Jarrett, 23, has had his deal extended into a second month after joining the club in September. The former Watford and Brighton winger made four first-team appearances in his first month with the club.

Mills eyeing regular Gills spot
Gillingham's loan signing Leigh Mills says he is keen to establish himself as a regular in the side. The 20-year-old Tottenham defender, who is at Priestfield until January, scored his first professional goal in the Gills 2-0 win against Chester. Mills told BBC Radio Kent: "I played a game and then was out of the side for a while so had to keep working and get my head down. "I've got to make sure I stay in that team so I've got to focus on myself." He added: "I've just got to keep pushing to get in the team week in week out. "I feel like I've settled into the club really well now and I've got a couple more months to try and establish myself and that's going to be my aim."

Stimson baffled by away displays
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson admits he cannot understand why his side are playing so badly on the road. The Gills, who have already lost four away league games this season, have two impending trips to Macclesfield in League Two and to Bury in the FA Cup. Stimson told Radio Kent: "It's a worry when you get beaten and this season we don't seem to be able to deal with the away games for some reason. "But it'd set our season up nicely if we do it properly and win both games."

Stimson fancies promotion chances
Gillingham manager Mark Stimson believes he has assembled a squad capable of winning promotion back to League One at the first attempt. Stimson marked a year at the club with a 1-0 win at Macclesfield, to leave the Gills four points off top spot. He told Radio Kent: "I've got a nice group of hungry players now who are not all here for money - they're here to win football matches. "They want to get the club back to where we want to be." He added: "The league's really, really close and we've got to make sure we just keep picking up points. "Come the turn of the year, if we're really in there then I may be able to knock at the chairman's door and say: 'Look, we've done really well with this squad but we may just need one of two more to give us that final push.'" Next up for Gillingham is an FA Cup first-round tie at Bury but Stimson says, much as he would enjoy a good cup run, his priority is to secure promotion out of League Two. "Maybe the chairman would disagree, if you're going to beat a couple of big teams on the way to the quarter-finals and get some big money in. "But, for me, it's about trying to get the club back where it belongs."

Gills captain contracts pneumonia
Gillingham captain Barry Fuller is in hospital suffering from pneumonia. The 24-year-old missed training on Monday after becoming unwell. The Kent club are now awaiting test results to find out the severity of his illness. "I spoke to Barry briefly this morning and he was struggling to speak, it is that bad," said manager Mark Stimson. "I hear there are a number of different types of pneumonia and we are waiting to hear what one it is. Let's hope he recovers really soon." Stimson added: "He'll be in there over the weekend and the early part of next week." Fuller was due to make his comeback for the Gills on Saturday at Morecambe after serving a three match ban for a red card he received against Brentford. The ban meant he missed what would have been the biggest game of his career in the FA Cup against Aston Villa. "We are still waiting for a report from the doctor, that'll take a couple of days," added Stimson.
