GIGI'S OWLS WARNING
R's First Team Coach Luigi De Canio has warned his players to be ready for a 'tough test' against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday. The Owls travel to W12 in a rich vein of form, which has seen them put together a six match unbeaten run in the Championship. And while De Canio admits he is 'very happy' with the progress his side are making, he is forecasting his most difficult encounter to date against Brian Laws' men. "Sheffield Wednesday are in a splendid run of form at present and will represent a tough test," De Canio told www.qpr.co.uk "They are in optimum condition and will provide us with a very hard obstacle to overcome." De Canio could hand a debut to recent loan signing, Bob Malcolm, against the Owls. The big defender joined QPR on loan from Derby County last Friday and the R's gaffer is hopeful his new man will fill the void left by broken leg victim Martin Cranie. "Martin was a very important player for us in my short time here and furthermore, he was a very good man. I'm deeply disappointed he can't be with us due to injury, but fortunately, we've managed to add to the squad with the addition of Bob. "Bob is a very similar character to Martin and I am hopeful he will have a similar impact." After coming through a Reserve team outing on Tuesday night, Dexter Blackstock is in line to return to the squad after a seven week absence with a knee injury, but Simon Walton is still a few weeks away from first team action.
