Gerrard demands stylish victory
Midfielder Steven Gerrard says it is crucial England turn on the style when they face Andorra in the European Championship qualifier on Saturday.
England thumped Greece 4-0 in new boss Steve McClaren's first game in charge and Gerrard wants more of the same when they return to Old Trafford.
Gerrard said: \"The most important thing is to qualify but the fans have been frustrated with the performances.
\"We want to try to win with style, play with freedom and relax.\"
The Liverpool midfielder said the impressive victory over Greece earlier this month will count for nothing if they do not reproduce that form at the weekend.
He said: \"It was important we started well against Greece and we did that.
\"We destroyed them in the first half. Now we need to take that form into the next two games.
\"But I agree with people who say there are no easy games at this level - you have got to show respect to the opposition beforehand.
\"Andorra is a potential banana skin but we need to make sure we put in a decent performance and win the game comfortably.\"
Gerrard feels England's failure to progress into the semi-finals of the World Cup will only serve to inspire them against Andorra.
\"All the players are still hurting from the World Cup and we've got to use that experience to drive us on in the future,\" he said.
\"It's a new set-up and there are fresh faces in the coaching staff - I'm really looking forward to the future with Steve McClaren in charge.
\"The squad are excited. It's a fresh start for everyone.\"
