Gaz eyes league return
Gareth Ainsworth turned his attention immediately to Saturday's league clash with Burnley following QPR's Carling Cup exit at Old Trafford. Tuesday's fourth round tie was Rangers' first meeting with Manchester United in 13 years and now, says Ainsworth, the club must concentrate on their bid to rejoin the Premier League elite. "There are probably not too many at the club that remember what the place looks like, it's been that long since they were at Old Trafford," said Ainsworth afterwards. "It's been fantastic for the fans and the players, they've had a great experience but now it's about getting the focus back on the Championship and coming back here in a league fixture - that's the dream. "I think if we play like we did tonight, we're not going to go far wrong in the Championship. The discipline the boys showed was fantastic and it took them a penalty to score." For all their endeavour, Rangers never really troubled the European champions until the last 10 or 15 minutes, when they were chasing the game and brought on Samuel Di Carmine to play as a third striker alongside Dexter Blackstock and Patrick Agyemang. But Ainsworth defended the decision to start with just Blackstock as a lone frontman, saying: "When we decided to go three up top Radek Cerny was outstanding, but I don't think he could have done that for the whole game. "We made the right decision and the system we started with did exactly as we wanted." Midfielders Akos Buzsaky - who limped off during the first half in Manchester - and Gavin Mahon could both be doubtful for the Burnley game after sustaining keen injuries.
