Gallen looking on the bright side
QPR skipper Kevin Gallen is confident Rangers will be in the mix for a play-off spot at the end of the season. Rangers ended a run of four straight Championship defeats with a draw against Hull on Saturday. "We have some good players and I would be very despondent if in March we are not competing for a play-off place," Gallen told Sir Stanley. "If you go on a run of results in the division you will find that you are quickly back up there." Gallen was injured during the game, picking up a hamstring strain that he expects to leave him sidelined for two to three weeks. And the veteran striker is adamant that once Rangers manager Ian Holloway is able to select a settled side with his key players available the team will soon climb the table. "I think the manager would say that he has never had a settled side team, never had the same team fit from one game to the next," added Gallen. "It is difficult when you are picking up injuries, always chopping and changing. "I think that as a player you produce your best when you are in a settled team for a few games and the manager cannot wait to get everyone fit." Hammersmith-born Gallen, 30, is in his second spell with Rangers and has clocked up more than 300 appearances for the club. He is a firm favourite with the supporters and is determined to ensure the club's supporters do not have to endure four consecutive defeats again this season. "I do not want to be part of a struggling side, one that loses four on the trot," he said. "I do not want to see that happen. Everyone must try to be at their best and I try to help lift everyone as one of the senior players. "Everyone is working hard in training and the morale in my opinion is as good as always. "It is just a matter of time before the results improve - but it is a difficult league and you have to be at your best to beat anyone because any team is capable of beating any other." And Gallen is confident that the result against Hull will mark the beginning of an improvement in form. "I'm not even thinking about relegation, we are in midtable and I prefer to think that my glass is half full rather than half empty," he said. "I think the result against Hull could prove to be crucial. "We were 2-0 down and came back to 2-2 - it felt like we had achieved something. It felt like a win and set everyone off on a high. "Hopefully it can give us a kick-start and we can progress form there."
