Farsley Celtic Newly promoted Farsley Celtic want to change their name to FC Leeds or Leeds Celtic, reports SSB.
The 100-year-old club have come up with the drastic proposal because not enough people know where Farsley is.
Farsley chairman Andy Firbank said: "It comes down to what's best for Farsley Celtic as a club.
"If we need to change our name to take us up another level from a crowd support point of view then that's what we need to do."
Fairbank has dismissed suggestions that he is trying to cash in on the Leeds United name.
"We don't have any ambitions to be another Leeds United. We really wouldn't want to be. There are a lot of differences in the two clubs," added Fairbank.
Although the club cannot change its name in time for this coming season, Firbank hopes to have a decision within weeks so that they can plan for the 2008/09 season.
Farlsey have moved up the football pyramid from Unibond Division One to the newly named Blue Square Premier in four years.

Farsley manager rues early goals Boss Lee Sinnott rued the early goals Farsley Celtic conceded in Tuesday's 5-1 defeat at Cambridge United.
Celtic went behind on two minutes and let in two more from Leo Fortune-West, who went on to complete a hat-trick after Gareth Grant had pulled one back.
"We got off to a catastrophic start. We made too many basic mistakes and we got punished," Sinnott told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
"It was better after the break and there were things I was pleased with."
Sinnott added: "But if you are 3-0 down in the first half an hour the game is as good as over."

Farsley resubmit improvement plan Farsley Celtic's plans to sell off some of their land will go before Leeds City Council on 20 March.
The club hope to sell the land to developers to generate much-needed cash for their own ground improvements.
The original plan to upgrade Throstle Nest was rejected last month, despite a submitted report recommending approval.
The new version would involve the building of 26 houses and 31 flats and it would enable Farsley to extend their main stand along one touchline.
The clubhouse, sports hall and junior pitches would also be upgraded, while the car park would also be extended.
The council's sport and recreation officer and Sport England have both backed the application.
After two successive promotions, Farsley's average attendance this season is 760, the second lowest in the Blue Square Premier.
Petition sheets will be included in the matchday programme.

Parsley to decide Farsley future Farsley Celtic caretaker manager Neil Parsley has yet to decide if he wants the job permanently.
The assistant made the step up after John Deacy was sacked last week and won his first match in charge on Saturday.
"The board will have to decide how they want to take the club forward. I don't know if that plan includes me," Parsley told BBC Radio Leeds.
"I'd consider the pros and cons if offered the job and take it from there. I'd have to speak to John Deacy too."
Parsley was appointed as Farsley's number two by Deacy last season, after Deacy was promoted to manager.
"I'm still hurting for John. He's put in a lot of time and effort here over many years.
"So it's hard for me too, so I don't know what I will do yet.
"I need to speak to John about what happened last week, how he feels about it all and future possible scenarios."
