FAI ruling hits Derry title hopes
Derry City's title hopes have suffered a blow after the FAI ruled that the disputed game between Bohemians and Shelbourne must be replayed. Bohs fielded an ineligible player in their 2-1 Eircom Premier Division victory over the leaders in August and were deducted three points. City are three points behind the Shels with a game in hand. However, the controversy is set to continue with the Eircom League to consider the FAI decision on Friday. Wednesday's ruling means Derry's game in hand has effectively been wiped out. The FAI made its decision in the \"interests of fair play\" following an appeal by Shelbourne. The replay must be held at the original venue, Dalymount Park, as a \"matter of urgency\". The points penalty remains against Bohemians for playing Jason McGuinness in the fixture. However, the controversy may not be over with legal avenues open to Derry.
