FA asked for help in agent probe
The Football Association will be asked to help to get access to the accounts of eight agents as an investigation into corruption in the sport moves on. Lord Stevens' firm Quest is looking into 17 transfers and will ask the FA for their assistance on Tuesday. "We are going to see the FA, and Fifa with respect to overseas agents," said Quest managing director Nigel Layton. "We want to see if we can get the assistance we need to get these eight agents to comply." The names of clubs who have breached rules will be withheld by Quest as it tries to build on the much-criticised results of a nine-month inquiry which were published in December. Stevens looked into 362 transfers but failed to unearth any culprits, although they did make a list of recommendations to safeguard illegal payments being made in the future. "This is the first meeting of the new stage of the inquiry," said a Quest official. "They will discuss the agents concerned and the FA, the Premier League and Quest are going to work together to get on to the next stage. "The names of the clubs who broke the rules will not be handed over yet as a little bit more work remains to be done on that case."
