Exeter City
Exeter City have released long-serving midfielder Kwame Ampadu. The former West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City player has been told he will not be offered a new contract at St James's Park. Ampadu, 34, started over 150 games for the Grecians after joining the club from Leyton Orient in July 2000. Striker Sean Canham has also been released but the experienced duo of forward Steve Flack and defender Scott Hiley are set to agree new deals.

Jeannin completes move to Bulls
Ex-Exeter City defender Alex Jeannin has joined Conference side Hereford. The Frenchman was released by the Grecians at the end of last season after manager Alex Inglethorpe had his playing budget slashed. The 27-year-old was hoping to return to the Football League by moving to Shrewsbury, but that move fell through. "Maybe I can return to the league with Hereford, I'd be happy to do that. They have kept their good players," Jeannin told the Express and Echo newspaper.

Conference increases loan quotas
The Conference has increased the number of loan players clubs can use next season after the enforced introduction of the transfer window system. Clubs can register four short-term and four long-term loan players and can play five loan players in a game. Clubs can also sign a keeper for a minimum period of seven days outside the transfer window if they do not have a registered keeper available. The changes are being brought in to soften the blow of the transfer window.

Taylor joins Rovers as assistant
Forest Green Rovers boss Gary Owers has named his former Bristol City team-mate Shaun Taylor as his assistant. Taylor, 42, had been a youth coach at City before leaving Ashton Gate by mutual consent just under a month ago. Born in Plymouth, he made over 200 League appearances for both Exeter and Swindon before joining Bristol City. He started 108 League games in four years for City before turning to coaching - and was a contender for the Exeter manager's job last year. Meanwhile, another former Bristol City coach, Terry Connor - currently with Wolves - has held talks over a possible return to the Ashton Gate coaching staff.

Inglethorpe's priority is Exeter
Exeter City boss Alex Inglethorpe will keep his job with the England National Game XI - but only if it does not interfere with the Grecians' ambitions. Inglethorpe enjoyed being manager Paul Fairclough's assistant as England's semi-professional team won last month's Four Nations tournament in Cork. He told the Exeter Express and Echo: "If I can fit England in with what I am doing with Exeter then fantastic. "But if not, then Exeter are very much my priority." Inglethorpe added: "I don't have to look further than this coming season. "We did good things last year but that is quickly forgotten and we have to look forward." But the 33-year-old says he is grateful for the time he spent working under Fairclough. "It was a great experience in Ireland and it was fantastic working with some excellent players," he said. "And it was really good to meet Paul and see how he operates. He's very passionate about what he does and I found working with him very easy. "And of course it's always nice when you go to a tournament and win it, especially as we were the first team to win the competition with three wins out of three."

Marshall eyes Grecians contract
Exeter City trialist Colin Marshall says he is eager to impress boss Alex Inglethorpe and earn a permanent deal. Midfielder Marshall, 20, was released by Falkirk at the end of the season and is being chased by a number of clubs. The winger has already impressed in an exhibition match and has a week to convince Inglethorpe of his worth. He told the Express & Echo: "My agent has spoken to a few clubs, here and in Scotland, who are keen to offer me a trial but Exeter are my first choice."

Harriers target Exeter's Sheldon
Exeter winger Gareth Sheldon is wanted by Conference rivals Kidderminster. Harriers boss Stuart Watkiss has comfirmed that he has held talks with the 25-year-old about a possible move to the Aggborough Stadium. Watkiss is re-building his side after relegation and is keen to add the former Scunthorpe man, who has spent three years at Exeter, to his squad. Sheldon missed two months of last term with a toe injury but was back in action towards the end of the season.

Inglethorpe searching for striker
Exeter City boss Alex Inglethorpe has drawn up a shortlist of strikers to bolster his squad. "We have targeted four and there are about six that would be keen to join," he told the Exeter Express and Echo. "There are a lot of young hungry players at League clubs who want to prove themselves and want first-team experience. I know which ones I'd like. "But I will wait as if I can't get a permanent striker we will go for a loan until the permanent one is available."

Perryman delight at Exeter form
Director of football Steve Perryman says Exeter's players are optimistic about their chances of doing well after going top of the Conference. Perryman told BBC Radio Devon: "The players are very confident after their opening two matches which have seen them take all six points. "Last season we had five points from our first five games, so that puts what has happened this year into context. "But we've not done anything yet and there is a long way to go."

Exeter 2-0 Morecambe
Exeter continued to set the early pace in the Conference as they kept up their 100% record with a win over Morecambe. Lee Phillips gave the home side the lead when he powered in a left-footed drive from close range for his third goal of the season. Chris Todd added a second just after the half-hour mark when Jon Challinor's long throw caused confusion in the Morecambe defence. Todd capitalised and pounced to lash home from just in front of goal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Exeter: Paul Jones, Hiley, Billy Jones, Gaia (Vinnicombe 66), Todd, Challinor (Flack 82), Cronin, Buckle, Edwards (Taylor 55), Farrell, Phillips. Exeter sign Scully from Magpies
Exeter City boss Alex Inglethorpe strengthened his squad ahead of the transfer deadline with the loan capture of Notts County's Tony Scully. The 29-year-old wide player has joined the early Conference leaders on an initial one-month deal. Scully, who has not figured for County this season, has been made available on a free by boss Gudjon Thordarson. The former QPR and Cambridge man has also played in the Conference for Dagenham, Tamworth and Barnet.

Scully unsure over loan extension
Exeter City loanee Tony Scully is not sure whether his spell at the club will be extended. The winger joined the Grecians on loan from Notts County and made a fine full debut against Cambridge on Saturday, scoring one goal and making another. Scully told Sir Stanley: "Whether I stay is up to the two clubs. "I've been here just over a week, we got a draw when I played at Dagenham and a win last week against Cambridge, so I'm just enjoying playing."

Exeter 1-1 Woking
Exeter lost ground on the Conference pacesetters as they were held to a draw at St James Park. The Grecians took the lead after a cagey opening quarter of an hour when Tony Scully headed home a probing Chris Todd cross in the 26th minute. Neither side created much for the rest of the half and were reduced to harmless long-distance shots. In the second half Karl Murray beat Exeter's Paul Jones with a superb free-kick to rescue a point. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Exeter: Paul Jones, Hiley, Todd (Gaia 59), Sawyer, Billy Jones, Afful, Challinor, Taylor, Scully (Mackie 84), Farrell, Phillips (Edwards 73).
