Ex R's - two old Rangers released
Georges Santos and Rufus Brevett have both been released at the end of their contracts at Brighton and Hove Albion and Oxford United respectively.
Santos signed for Rangers in 2004 following our promotion to the Championship and started 66 games for QPR and scoring six times. He was released on a free transfer by Gary Waddock last summer and moved to Brighton as they struggled for centre half options with Adam Hinshelwood and Guy Butters out of action. He only started eight times for the south coast outfit before moving on loan to Conference outfit Oxford where he started a further three games before injury curtailed his season. The Marseille born utility man turns 37 in August and has more than 250 league appearances in Britain to his name including time with Sheff Utd, Tranmere, West Brom and Grimsby Town.
Brevett played second fiddle to Clive Wilson for many years at QPR but still managed 159 starts over seven years after signing from Doncaster Rovers. He was bizarrely sold for just £375,000 to Fulham just as he was playing his best football at QPR and that decision looked even more ridiculous when he went on to enjoy a terrific second stint in the top flight with Fulham and West Ham. After unsuccessful spells with Plymouth and Leicester he started 19 games for Oxford this season as they reached the Conference play offs but lost to Exeter in the semi final. The U's have said they will have to cut costs after failing to return to the football league at the first time of asking.
