Euro 08 may face rejig after vote
Montenegro's pending independence from Serbia may affect the qualifying draw for Euro 2008, Uefa has confirmed.
The recent vote in favour of dissolving Montenegro's political union with Serbia means the countries will field separate football teams in the future.
But the timescale is unknown and Serbia & Montenegro are due to play their first qualifying tie on 2 September.
Uefa wants Fifa to ratify the Montenegrin Football Association before it can be treated as a separate entity.
The team will definitely compete at this summer's World Cup as Serbia & Montenegro - and it will be the first and last time the nation plays under that name in a World Cup.
Serbian president Boris Tadic has recognised the results of Montenegro's vote for independence, meaning there should be no hurdles to the process of establishing the country's independence.
