Eriksson to earn Swedish honour
England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson will receive a prestigious medal for his contribution to football from Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf.
The 57-year-old Swede will be awarded the King's Medal of the Twelfth Size with Royal Blue Ribbon at Stockholm's royal palace on Thursday.
Eriksson is honoured for "his valuable contribution to the sport of soccer," the Royal Court said on Monday.
Eriksson became the first foreign coach of the England team in January 2001.
He has since led the side to the quarter-finals of both the 2002 World Cup and the 2004 European Championship.
