England U21s hit by withdrawals
England's Under-21 side have been hit by eight withdrawals from the squad picked for the friendly against Holland in Alkmaar on Tuesday. Keeper Ben Alnwick, defenders Steven Taylor, Anton Ferdinand, Andrew Taylor as well as midfielders Nigel Reo Coker and Lee Cattermole are all injured. Striker Gabriel Agbonlahor is also sidelined while Kieran Richardson has been promoted to the full squad. Manchester City's Nedum Onuoha is the only replacement to be called up. The squad will be led by Sammy Lee as Peter Taylor wants to focus on his club commitments at struggling Championship outfit Crystal Palace. Assistant Bolton boss Lee said: \"I've spoken to Peter and we'll talk again on Sunday to discuss how we are going to play. \"It's a squad of very talented youngsters and they've done very well in the European Championship qualifiers. \"They work very hard for each other, they have a lot of talented individuals and their teamwork stands out more than anything. \"This will be an interesting game, it's always good to play against the likes of Holland. They are very talented too, so it'll be a good test for us.\" Fulham's Liam Rosenior has been called up to the squad while West Brom's Curtis Davies is included after returning from injury. The match takes place in Alkmaar on Tuesday 14 November. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- England Under-21 squad Goalkeepers: Lee Camp (Norwich), Scott Carson (Charlton).
