Dutch ticket shock for Boro fans
Middlesbrough fans face a scramble for tickets for the Uefa Cup trip to AZ Alkmaar after they were given just 408 tickets for the game on 24 November. Boro are taking about 3,000 fans to Switzerland for next week's game with Grasshoppers, but Alkmaar's small ground means far fewer can go there. Ticket prices for the visit of Dnipro on 3 November have been cut after poor crowds at previous Boro Uefa Cup games. Admission to that game will be half the price of a Premiership match. Chairman Steve Gibson told the club website he hoped fans would give the team their backing as they aimed to go one better than last season, where they just missed out on reaching the quarter-finals. "I want the fans to back us in our quest not only to progress from the group stage, but to go further than we did in last season's UEFA Cup run," he said. "I believe we are capable of going a long way in this competition and I am excited about that possibility. I hope the fans are, too."
