Dowie admits his side must improve
Boss Iain Dowie admitted his side must improve when they have the ball after QPR's goalless draw at Swansea on Tuesday night. Rangers were forced to settle for a point at the Liberty Stadium, despite playing for more than an hour against a Swansea side who had outfield player Alan Tate in goal after first choice goalkeeper Dorus de Vries had to be stretchered off. Tate was forced to go in goal as Swansea had no keeper on the bench after de Vries was injured in a 26th minute challenge with R's captain Martin Rowlands, but QPR were unable to press home their advantage and Tate only had to make one save. Dowie said: "We never passed the ball with any conviction and probably didn't deserve the draw. "Because we never used the ball well enough, we were unable to test their substitute keeper. "I took Martin Rowlands off because he had been booked after the challenge on their keeper and I didn't want to risk him being sent off. "Swansea are a very good side and Roberto Martinez has done very well for a very passionate crowd, but at the end of the day we have come away from a difficult place with a point." Damien Delaney was also booked during the game and will now miss next Tuesday's home clash against Birmingham with a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season.
