Dellas agent makes Celtic claims
The agent of Greek international Traianos Dellas says Celtic are keen on the out-of-contract Roma defender. Maurizio Tonicchi told the Evening Times: "I have spoken to Peter Lawwell and Celtic are interested. "It is important the player knows his team-mates and has a chance to train before the season gets going. "There is interest in him from Germany and France, but his main priority is that he goes to a club who will be playing in Europe." Dellas, who was outstanding when Greece triumphed at Euro 2004, claimed Rangers made him an offer in May and has been linked with several other clubs. The 30-year-old centre-half was with Sheffield United for two seasons before spells with AEK Athens and Perugia. He moved to Roma in 2002 but never established himself as a first-team regular. However, Dellas caught the eye with a number of impressive displays as Greece were crowned European champions in Portugal last year.

Slavia upset at losing Uefa plea
Slavia Prague have criticised Uefa after losing their appeal against the decision to seed Liverpool in the Champions League. Slavia finished runners-up to Sparta Prague in the Czech first division. But they lost their seeding in the third qualifying round when the decision was taken to admit European champions Liverpool. "The reply sent to us from Uefa management was shocking for us," said Slavia general manager Vladimir Leska. "If Uefa solves an irregular situation about the defending champions it should not harm the other clubs. "We still believe that an acceptable solution will be found, a solution that will avoid harming of our club as regards seeding in the third preliminary round." Liverpool finished fifth in the Premiership but after intense media pressure and lobbying, Uefa allowed them a place in the first qualifying round. Slavia and the Czech Football Federation appealed against the decision, which will cost them a seeding when they enter in the third round of qualifying, but to no avail. Slavia are likely to face much tougher opponents as they bid to qualify for the lucrative group stages - with a large potential loss of revenue. Croatian champions Hajduk Split have also protested against the decision, which cost them a seeding in the second preliminary round.
