De Canio promises prudence in January sales
QPR boss Luigi De Canio has promised to use his transfer budget wisely in order to keep the club in the Championship this season.
Rangers are expected to embark on a spending spree next month for the first time in years now Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal has joined the loaded duo of Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone at the helm.
De Canio has been linked with Birmingham duo Rowan Vine and Martin Taylor, former loan star Hogan Ephraim from West Ham, Watford midfielder Gavin Mahon, plus a mystery arrival from abroad.
The Loftus Road chief will spend with care in the transfer window after stating: "The money is not mine. I am just happy this club is becoming an important, solid club, and I'm pleased for the fans who can see a bright future.
"We will work hard to get things right, and we will utilise our finances in the best possible way.
"No club has unlimited funds, everyone has a budget. But when the time is right we will discuss the budget and what to do with it.
"I have no problem with the pressure. When you affiliate yourself to a club you take on a project. I am very happy to be in this country, at this club and with this group of players."
Rangers are off the bottom of the Championship - and out of the bottom three - for Christmas after Saturday's 2-1 home win over fellow strugglers Colchester.
