De Canio looks to future after defeat
QPR manager Luigi De Canio says he wants his team to emulate Chelsea after they exited the FA Cup at the hands of the Blues.
Lee Camp's first-half own goal handed the cup holders a place in the next round.
But De Canio took encouragement from the way his new-look side performed.
He said: "I was satisfied with the performance which shows we are growing.
"I am happy but we can and will do better with more time together.
"The issue is about being able to come back here (Chelsea) on a level ground and matching them. That is much more important and more gratifying."
i'm more and more impressed with gigi every time he speaks he has the mindset of a winner and tactically is VERY astute.i was very impressed with the football we played yesterday and rowly looked every inch a premiership player.the one difference between the two teams was chelscum were more precise with their passing but we scared them i think thats why when they had a corner in the last five minutes they played keep ball.heiron lee is a future star aswell as connolly,fitz hall was as solid as a rock at the back alongside stewpeas.i usually curtail my optimism but i can't now things are looking very bright indeed.
Yes it seems that we have a very capable manager in Gigi and I get the impression Chelsea were quite glad to get through...I also liked it as they had to bring on the bigger guns during the match!! :laugh:
we will be back at the bridge soon on an even keel and then we'll see if they have the metal for a real battle.
