Crouch set to win England recall
Peter Crouch is in line to be recalled for England's Euro 2008 qualifier against Estonia on Wednesday.
England manager Steve McClaren has hinted Liverpool striker Crouch will partner Michael Owen in attack.
Crouch was left out of the starting line-up for the friendly against Brazil, but has scored five goals in six starts since McClaren took over.
McClaren said: "I said before the Brazil game that wasn't necessarily the team for Estonia."
England will be without the suspended Wayne Rooney in Tallinn and McClaren's experiment of pairing Owen with Manchester United's Alan Smith against Brazil failed to work.
McClaren said: "We'll have to look at certain things and digest it and it may be different from the line-up for the Brazil game."
Former England skipper David Beckham seems to have cemented his place in the England starting line-up to face the Group E minnows, who have yet to win a point or score a goal in their qualifying campaign.
Beckham was impressive on his recall to the England colours for the first time since England's 2006 World Cup exit, in the friendly against Brazil at Wembley.
McClaren will hope that Crouch will benefit from Beckham's delivery on crosses in a similar fashion to skipper John Terry, who headed England's first goal at the new Wembley stadium from one of his free-kicks.
The England manager warned his players to guard against complacency.
England boosted their confidence with the 1-1 draw against Brazil, but McClaren warned: "We have to ensure we get back down to earth and remind the players what their jobs will be."
Owen Hargreaves is injured so Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard look set to continue in midfield, supported out wide by Joe Cole and David Beckham.
Nicky Shorey will continue at left-back if Wayne Bridge's hip injury rules him out and Jamie Carragher's position at right-back will come under pressure from Phil Neville.
But McClaren is confident that if England repeat the level of performance they showed against Brazil they should beat Estonia.
"If the players do their jobs in a disciplined manner then you get a performance," added McClaren.
"All games are difficult at international level, especially away games, but it's not really about Estonia, it's about what we do.
"If we do the job as we have done recently we expect to win but we have got to do the job and have the same level of performance that we had on Friday.
"Despite not winning, Estonia actually try to play football, they try to attack, so hopefully it will be an open game."
