Coventry says Jay Tabb is not going to QPR
Coventry have rejected reports linking Jay Tabb with a possible move to Queens Park Rangers and are preparing a new deal for the midfielder.
Weekend speculation suggested former Sky Blues boss Iain Dowie was lining up a move for Tabb to bring him to Loftus Road.
Coventry chairman Ray Ranson insists the club have no intention of selling Tabb and are preparing to offer him a new deal, with the Republic of Ireland international having just one year to run on his current contract.
"I have seen all the rumours and read all the stories but the only contact we have had with QPR is when I was the guest of Flavio Briatore at Silverstone for the Grand Prix recently, and at no point did we discuss any of our players. We merely talked about my other passion - motorsport," Ranson told the Coventry Evening Telegraph.
"As for Tabby, he did a fantastic job for us last year and quite rightly got Player of the Year.
Happy
"He has got one year left on his contract, is very happy here at Coventry and we will try to get together with him and his agent in the next few weeks to agree a new deal."
