Connolly extends Hoops stay
Matt Connolly has signed a two-year extension to his contract which will keep him at Loftus Road until the summer of 2013. The 22-year-old joined the club in January 2008 from Arsenal and had loan spells at Bournemouth and Colchester before joining the Rs. Connolly's assured performances over the past two seasons have made him a favourite amongst the QPR faithful and the centre-back is delighted to have committed his future to the club. Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "I'm really pleased to commit my future to the club, and I'm glad that it's all sorted out before the start of the season. "I still have a year to run on my contract, so it wasn't really playing on my mind but it's always good to have your future sorted out nice and early. "We've got an excellent manager in place who is going to be here for a few years and the club is really settled. "My target for the season is to stay injury-free, play as many games as I can and show everyone what I can do. "I've been really impressed by Neil Warnock since he came in. He's got a proven track record, a lot of experience and I like the way he manages. I am delighted to be a part of it." Exciting QPR boss Warnock is delighted to have Connolly on board as he aims to build a young and exciting squad at Loftus Road. He said: "This is another important step in getting my squad together and settled for the next couple of years. "Matt is one of the most exciting young footballers around and I am expecting big things from him in the next 12 months. "This is going to be a big season for him."
