Nicholson released from hospital Chesterfield's Shane Nicholson has left hospital after undergoing emergency treatment to an infection in his leg following a cartilage operation.
The Spireites skipper suffered the infection following keyhole surgery, but will receive daily nursing treatment until the problem clears up.
Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland said: "There's some way to go to ensure it (the infection) has fully cleared up.
"This setback means he will be hard pressed to get back this season."

Barnsley 1-1 Chesterfield Play-off chasing Barnsley were left without a victory in seven matches after a draw against Chesterfield.
The Tykes went ahead on 31 minutes when Paul Hayes broke into the area and pulled the ball back to Brian Howard to slot the ball home from five yards out.
Barnsley should have doubled their lead in the 56th minute but Marc Richards fluffed a simple chance.
Chesterfield equalised on 76 minutes when Paul Hall found Derek Niven to place home from five yards.

Chesterfield 2-2 Colchester Colchester kept their automatic promotion hopes alive with an impressive comeback at Chesterfield.
The home side were 2-0 up inside 18 minutes when Jamie O'Hara fired a low 25-yard drive home and Paul Hall scored from the penalty spot.
Mark Yeates pulled a goal back for the U's in first-half stoppage time with a low strike after a fine run at goal.
And striker Chris Iwelumo grabbed the equaliser after 73 minutes when he volleyed in Karl Duguid's cross.

Huddersfield 1-2 Chesterfield Huddersfield blew the chance to go second in League One as Paul Hall bagged a brace to earn Chesterfield all three points at the Galpharm Stadium.
Danny Schofield had already hit the bar when David Graham gave the Terriers the lead, heading in a Schofield centre.
But Chesterfield levelled against the run of play when Wayne Allison crossed for Hall to score from close range.
They stunned the hosts with a winner when Mark Allott sent Hall clear and he coolly slotted past Paul Rachubka.

Chesterfield v MK Dons Former Manchester United striker Colin Heath is set to make his debut for Chesterfield as Caleb Forlan remains sidelined with a knee injury.
Steve Blatherwick and Alex Bailey are out for the season but Reuben Hazell (foot) and Shane Nicholson (knee infection) are fit again.

Chesterfield 1-2 MK Dons Gareth Edds stepped off the bench to earn Milton Keynes victory away at Chesterfield and alive keep their hopes of avoiding relegation from League One.
MK Dons went ahead when Clive Platt headed home a cross from Filipe Morais.

Folan undergoes cartilage surgery Chesterfield striker Caleb Folan has had a cartilage operation on a recurring knee injury.
The 23-year-old former Leeds forward is expected to be fully fit in time for the start of pre-season training.
Chesterfield manager Roy McFarland told the club website: "We sent Caleb to see a specialist because his knee kept on flaring up.
"The operation has been done quickly so he'll have time to recover and we hope to see the best of him next season."

Port Vale 3-1 Chesterfield Port Vale came from a goal down before securing victory over Chesterfield.
Vale keeper Mark Goodlad fumbled Phil Pickin's cross, leaving Jamie O'Hara to put the visitors ahead on early on.
But his blunder was replicated by Chesterfield's Barry Roche who spilled Jeff Smith's corner and George Pilkington headed Vale level.
Pilkington, who had not scored in 30 months, followed up Leon Constantine's header to make it 2-1 and Michael Cummings sealed the win late on.

Blatherwick has hernia operation Chesterfield defender Steve Blatherwick has had a double hernia operation.
Meanwhile utility player Gareth Davies has been sent to Lilleshall for tests on the lower back problem which affected the latter part of his season.
Both players along with striker Caleb Folan, who recently had cartilage surgery, will be monitored throughout the summer.
They will spend part of their summer at the club as part of their recovery so they are ready for pre-season.

Defender Picken joins Spireites Manchester United defender Phil Picken has agreed a new two-year contract to stay at Chesterfield.
The 20-year-old played 33 games for the Spireites after joining on loan from United last August.
Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland told the club's website: "I am delighted that Phil has agreed to commit his future with us."
Skipper Shane Nicholson has also agreed a new one-year deal which keeps him at Saltergate until June 2007.

Magpies snap up N'Toya and McCann Notts County boss Steve Thompson has continued his signing spree with the capture of striker Tcham N'Toya.
N'Toya, 22, joins the Magpies after being released by League One side Chesterfield at the end of last season.
County have also agreed to sign Boston defender Austin McCann, 26, who will formally join them when his contract expires at the end of June.
\"He is experienced and has a good knowledge of this division,\" Thompson told the club's website.
The duo's arrival at Meadow Lane takes Thompson's number of new signings to nine in the past week.

McFarland cautious at bumper win Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland was pleased but cautious after they enjoyed a 3-0 win at Bournemouth on the opening day of the new League One season.
\"It was a good performance and a good result, but let's not get carried away. We've been well-prepared, but there are still 45 games to go,\" he said.

Bournemouth 0-3 Chesterfield Derek Niven, Colin Larkin and Caleb Folan all got on the scoresheet as Chesterfield thrashed Bournemouth.
Niven swept in a half-volley from 20 yards just after the break, but the decisive moment came from Cherries keeper Gareth Stewart's awful mistake.
Stewart rushed out to clear but totally missed his kick to gift Larkin the chance to make it 2-0 on 62 minutes.
Folan rounded the keeper to complete the rout, while Bournemouth's best chance was missed by James Hayter.
The striker misdirected his header after a clever exchange of passes with Lionel Ainsworth.
Bournemouth's unhappy day was compounded by the loss of captain Marcus Browning after just six minutes.
