Chesterfield open talks with Ward
Chesterfield have entered into discussions with in-form striker Jamie Ward over a new contract. The 22-year-old has already scored 10 goals this season, alerting a number of other clubs to his availability in the summer when his current deal expires. Manager Lee Richardson told Radio Sheffield: "We are in discussion with with Jamie about a new contract. That's all we can really say at the moment." Ward has been linked to Sheffield United and Derby County. Richardson says any club wanting to sign the former Northern Ireland Under-21 international will have to pay market value. "I think we have to get to the sort of levels we got for Caleb Folan <£500,000> it's only right, but that is for the chairman to decide if a bid comes in. "It's not that we are a club that gives away its assets too cheaply, but at every level of football everybody has their price. "If Jamie doesn't want to sign the contract, which will be a good one for us, then he has that right and we can't force him to. "The only thing that we will rest assured on is that if he decides to move on, then whoever takes him will have to pay compensation because he is under 24."

Richardson open to offers for duo
Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson has said he is ready to listen to offers for defender Robert Page and midfielder Paul Harsley. Page, a former Wales international, has not played since 12 December while Harsley has made just seven starts. "If another club wants to take them on loan or permanently then it's something we'd look at," Richardson told Radio Sheffield. "It's not an ideal situation as they are on big wages and not in the team."

Perkins agrees Chesterfield loan
Chesterfield have taken Colchester United midfielder David Perkins on a month-long loan. The 27-year-old, who has handed in a transfer request, will go straight into the squad to face Accrington Stanley. "Things were not working out at Colchester. I put my request in, and a loan was the next option," Perkins told Radio Sheffield. "If they like me then it could be a longer move. I probably won't be down there for too long."
