Stafford Rangers v Burton Albion
Stafford will be missing Ged Murphy who begins a three-match ban after his red card against Stevenage. Nathan Talbott is expected to continue at the back after recovering from hamstring trouble. Burton defender Gary Rowett returns from a rib injury but Keith Gilroy has a hamstring problem which means Andy Corbett will retain his place. Darren Tinson is back after a hamstring niggle, but is unlikely to dislodge John Brayford from the side.

Rushden & Diamonds v Burton
Rushden & Diamonds welcome back Michael Rankine after his suspension but Tom Shaw remains sidelined as he completes his three-match ban. Dave Savage is likely to continue in place of Shaw, while Rankine is in contention to lead the attack. Burton boss Nigel Clough has Andy Ducros available again after his recovery from a hamstring strain. However, Jon Shaw (ankle) is doubtful, along with Aaron Webster (groin) and Darren Tinson (hamstring).

Burton v Gravesend
Burton striker Jon Shaw is pushing for a start after overcoming an ankle problem although Andy Ducros remains a doubt with a hamstring injury. Keith Gilroy may start again on the bench, while defender Gary Rowett is tipped for a recall. Gravesend trio Ross Smith (knee), Mark DeBolla (ankle) and Jon Keeling (hamstring) will all be given late chances to prove their fitness. The trip comes slightly too soon for Stacy Long, who is not fully fit.

Burton 0-1 Gravesend
Danny Slatter's strike proved enough for Gravesend as the visitors ground out a hard-fought victory at Burton. The hosts dominated the early exchanges, but failed to make the most of a couple of good opportunities. Gravesend slowly worked their way into the game, though, and almost took the lead when Charlie MacDonald hit a post. And just three minutes later it was 1-0 as Liam Coleman's perfect pass found Slatter free outside the box, and he fired home the winner from 18 yards. Burton Albion: Poole, Rowett, Webster, Tinson, Austin, Corbett, Stride, Fowler, Ducros (Hall 45), Shaw (Harrad 64), Clare. Subs Not Used: Taylor, Holmes, Liversage. Halifax v Burton Albion
Tom Kearney comes into contention for Halifax after proving his fitness from a foot injury with a brief appearance in the win over Tamworth. Defender Greg Young missed that game with a hamstring tweak but is back to full fitness. Burton's defence may be boosted by the return of Keith Gilroy after a month on the sidelines with a hamstring problem. Chris Hall is doubtful with a knee injury while Lee Fowler serves a one-match suspension.

Halifax 1-2 Burton Albion
Mark Roberts' late own goal gave play-off hopefuls Burton Albion a fortunate away win. The Brewers took the lead in the 10th minute when Keith Gilroy's corner was fired home by Aaron Webster. Steve Torpey hit the post for the hosts with a 30-yard effort after 20 minutes before equalising 10 minutes later, tapping home from six yards. With 10 minutes left Roberts turned Andrew Corbett's cross into his own net as Halifax denied themselves a point. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Halifax: Mawson, Matthews, Quinn, Roberts, Doughty, Forrest, Foster, Thompson, Steve Torpey (Senior 72), Killeen, Sugden (Smeltz 71). Burton snap up midfielder Carden
Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough has completed the signing of experienced midfielder Paul Carden following his release by Peterborough last week. Carden signed for Unibond League side Burscough but then immediately joined Burton on loan until January and made his debut in Saturday's win at Halifax. The 27-year-old is a previous Conference winner with Chester City. Clough is also interested in winger Daryl Taylor, 21, who was released from a short-term deal by Bury.

Clough set to miss out on Taylor
Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough may be thwarted in his attempt to sign winger Daryl Taylor. The 21-year-old midielder has impressed during his trial period at the Conference club. But having been registered as a player with both Bournemouth and Bury this season, any future deal must reportedly run until the end of the season. Clough told the Burton Mail: \"It is unlikely we can offer him a contract for the next seven months.\"

Pilgrims quash Brewers loan hope
Boston boss Steve Evans has quashed Burton's hopes of signing Pilgrims striker Anthony Elding on loan. \"We enquired about him all last week to take him on loan, and we will pursue it again next week,\" Brewers manager Nigel Clough said at the weekend. But Evans hit back: \"If Nigel wants to sign Anthony then he should speak to his chairman, Ben Robinson, and ask him to get his chequebook out. \"He won't be going there on loan,\" Evans insisted. Elding, 24, is in his second spell at Boston. He was a prolific scorer at non-league level with Stevenage and Kettering before moving back to York Street in the summer.

Burton Albion 2-1 Stevenage
Burton came from a goal down and the setback of having a player sent-off to beat Stevenage at the Pirelli Stadium. John Nurse gave the visitors the lead when he struck home a 15th minute shot after a cross from George Boyd. Midfielder Aaron Webster was then dismissed for a professional foul on goalscorer Nurse two minutes later. But Burton equalised through a Keith Gilroy effort before Paul Carden's right-footed shot hit the bottom-right corner after 89 minutes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burton Albion: Poole, Brayford, Tinson, Austin, Webster, Corbett, Carden, Fowler, Gilroy, Clare (Harrad 84), Ducros (Holmes 74). Burton v Tamworth
Burton midfielder Darren Stride has recovered from a groin injury and will feature in the squad, while Gary Rowett is fit after a knee injury. Andy Ducros made a successful return last time out and although Aaron Webster is suspended, Lee Fowler has served his ban. Tamworth defender Michael Touhy is the main injury worry for boss Mark Cooper. Bradley Thomas, on loan from Yeovil, has not been given permission to play by the Glovers.

Knee injury strikes down Scoffham
Burton Albion striker Steve Scoffham suffered his second serious knee injury of the season, playing for Alfreton. The 23-year-old had been loaned to the Reds to speed up his recovery from a knee ligament injury picked up playing for the Brewers at Woking on 6 October. \"I'm feeling really fed up because I seem to have spent two-and-a-half of the last three years on the treatment table,\" Scoffham told the Burton Mail. \"I felt really good about playing some football again.\"

SirStanleyBowles- 12-12-2006
Burton hit by injury to Webster
Burton Albion may be without long-serving defender Aaron Webster until the turn of the year. The 25-year-old, who has started over 150 Conference games for the Brewers, has been sidelined with a knee ligament injury sustained in training. Boss Nigel Clough told the Burton Mail: \"At the moment we're presuming he will miss Gateshead (in the FA Trophy) and all of the holiday games. \"Anything other than that will be a bonus,\" Clough added.

Tamworth 0-1 Burton Albion
Daryl Clare converted a late penalty to give Burton victory at The Lamb. Tamworth keeper Jose Veiga, who made a string of fine saves, saw red for bringing down Jon Shaw and Clare fired home the resultant spot-kick. Portuguese stopper Veiga earlier tipped over Shaw's effort and palmed away Lee Fowler's long-range strike. The Lambs provided little attacking threat - Joe Kendrick's free-kick and Simon Heslop's drilled shot the only serious tests for keeper Kevin Poole. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tamworth: Veiga, Kendrick, Kemp, Weaver, Laight (Stevenson 80), Taylor, Smith, Heslop, Storer, Atieno (Burton 89), Williams (Belford 75). Subs Not Used: Law, Mark Cooper. Sent Off: Veiga (74). Booked: Weaver.
