Burton tie Gilroy to new contract
Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough has tied winger Keith Gilroy to a new two-year deal at the Pirelli Stadium. The 22-year-old, who joined last summer after a short spell at Darlington, will stay with the Brewers until June, 2008. Clough is hoping to retain most of his current squad on long-term deals, including loan midfielder Kris Taylor and ex-Charlton defender Gary Rowett. Rowett, 31, is currently winding down his coaching duties at Derby County to commit to playing at Burton full-time.

Stevenage 2-3 Burton Albion
Burton produced a stunning fightback as they came from 2-0 down to earn an incredible victory away at Stevenage. Substitute Christian Moore struck in stoppage time from six yards just a minute after replacing Shaun Harrad. Stevenage went ahead when Dino Maamria dispatched an Adam Miller cross into the net and Darryn Stamp doubled the lead with a fine close-range finish. Jon Shaw pulled one back with a header and Aaron Webster nodded home before Moore popped up with an amazing winner. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stevenage: Julian, Henry, Oliver, Miller (Louis 78), Boyd, Bulman, Perpetuini (Weatherstone 33), Quinn, Stamp, Maamria, Berquez (Nurse 67). Burton v Hereford
Burton boss Nigel Clough is likely to make changes to the side that beat Stevenage with the returning Keith Gilroy picked ahead of Andy Ducros. Albion are sweating on the fitness of skipper Darren Stride, who suffered a dead-leg in training. Hereford could welcome back Rob Purdie (knee) and Dean Beckwith (shin) following late fitness tests. Andy Williams could also return after being substituted in the win over Southport with a heavy nosebleed.

Burton 0-1 Hereford
Hereford kept up their chase of runaway leaders Accrington thanks to Andy Williams' first-half strike. Williams gave the otherwise outstanding Burton keeper Saul Deeney no chance from 12 yards when he dispatched a loose ball to settle a pulsating game. Hereford appeared content with their one goal in the second half and were almost made to pay. Andrew Ducros broke clear on the right and crossed for Kris Taylor, who headed straight at the keeper from six yards. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burton: Deeney, Corbett, Tinson, Rowett, Webster, Chris Hall (Christian Moore 89), Stride, Kris Taylor, Gilroy, Shaw (Ducros 76), Harrad. Altrincham 1-2 Burton Albion
Burton got off to a dream start at Altrincham and managed to hold on to take all three points. The match was just four minutes old when Aaron Webster was on hand to connect with Keith Gilroy's corner to put the Brewers ahead. Colin Little managed to draw Altrincham level three minutes later after a long ball from Stephen Aspinall. But Burton were able to claim the points when Shaun Harrad slotted home three minutes after half-time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Altrincham: Coburn, Aspinall, Talbot, Band, Adams, Murphy (Potts 61), Owen, Peyton, Norton (Chalmers 80), Little, Thornley (Lugsden 72). Clough and Wilder share accolade
Burton's Nigel Clough and Halifax's Chris Wilder have been named joint winners of the Conference manager of the month award for March. Clough's outfit won two out of their three games - including a 2-1 win at Altrincham on Saturday - and lost at home to Hereford 1-0. Third-placed Halifax, meanwhile, were unbeaten in March, sealing two wins against Exeter and Woking. The promotion challengers drew their other match at Cambridge United 1-1.

Burton 0-0 York
York's play-off hopes were dented following a goalless draw at Burton. Albion were on the front foot after two minutes, with a right-footed 20-yard shot from Shaun Harrad comfortably caught by Chris Porter. The York keeper was called on once again five minutes later, when he athletically tipped Keith Gilroy's left-footed effort over the crossbar. York came out firing after the break in a far more even second half which ebbed and flowed as both sides had chances. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burton Albion: Deeney, Corbett, Tinson, Rowett, Webster, Chris Hall (Shaw 83), Stride, Ducros, Gilroy (Kris Taylor 75), Harrad, Clare. Brewers boss feels draw was fair
Burton boss Nigel Clough felt it was "a fair result" after his side drew 0-0 with York at the Pirelli Stadium. "The conditions dictated the game - considering the wind and the pitch being difficult, that was the best the game could have been," Clough said. "The only ball that caused either side problems was the ball over the top, and that's where the chances came from. "It was going to take a mistake to win it, but we've had another battle with a top five side and matched them."

Hall agrees new Burton contract
Burton Albion midfielder Chris Hall has agreed a new one-year deal. Hall, 24, has established himself as a key member of Nigel Clough's side this campaign after signing from Lincoln United at the start of last season. However, defender Lee Ayres has not been offered a new deal and has left the club after having the remaining few weeks of his contract paid up. Ayres, 23, joined the Brewers from Tamworth in August 2004 but has not played this season because of injury.

Crawley Town v Burton Albion
Crawley striker Gavin Gordon is fit to line up against Burton after recovering from a knee injury that has restricted him to just three games since February. However, the 26-year-old may struggle to get in the line-up following Town's run of five straight victories. Burton manager Nigel Clough also has a clean bill of health as his side prepare for the in-form Red Devils. Jon Shaw and Darren Stride should both play after coming through last week's draw with York unscathed after injury.

Crawley Town 1-1 Burton Albion
Tony Scully struck from 20 yards two minutes from time to earn Crawley an unexpected 1-1 draw at home to Burton. The midfielder beat goalkeeper Saul Deeney from long range in the closing minutes after good work by Ben Judge to earn the hosts a deserved point. Albion had taken the lead just before the hour when Kris Taylor manouevered the ball well to set up Daryl Clare. And, following a cagey first-half, that looked like it would be enough for the visitors until Scully's intervention. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Crawley Town: Smith, Judge, Mendy (Bostwick 65), Giles, Brown, Scully, Clay, Marshall (Ekoku 65), Blackburn, Burton, Coleman. Subs Not Used: Ward, Jenkins, Gavin Gordon. Goals: Scully 89. Scarborough 3-0 Burton
Scarborough climbed off the bottom of the Conference with an emphatic win. Player-boss Neil Redfearn put them ahead from the spot after Andrew Corbett was sent off for stopping a Tony Hackworth header with his hands. Burton twice went close after half-time before Boro doubled their lead with a brilliant 20-yard Hackworth shot. The Seasiders made sure of a first home win since November when substitute Michael Coulson tucked away Hackworth's cross from close range. Scarborough: Dunbavin, Steve Baker, Atkinson, Weaver, Hughes, Fowler, Redfearn (Coulson 69), Ingram (McClare 82), Nicholson, Hackworth, McNiven. Subs Not Used: Walker, Blunt, Beadle. Booked: Ingram. Burton 0-0 Southport
Southport picked up a vital point which moved them up one place in their battle to avoid relegation. They started brightly, with Steve Daly volleying an early chance wide, but Nigel Clough's side soon took control. Sandgrounders keeper Steven Dickinson tipped a Gary Rowett header around the post and then denied Keith Gilroy as his low drive looked destined to go in. Aaron Webster also came close to a winner for the hosts, but he could not keep his header down from 12 yards. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Burton Albion: Deeney, Corbett, Tinson, Rowett, Webster, Shaw (Moore 84), Stride, Ducros, Gilroy (Austin 73), Harrad (Kris Taylor 68), Clare. Clough rues missed opportunities
Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough admitted that his side lacked the killer instinct after being held to a goalless draw by struggling Southport. "They were very, very resolute but I just didn't think we tested them enough times," said Clough. "If you put quality balls in nine times out of ten it's hard for them to deal with it but we didn't do it. "We got into good positions with free-kicks and in open play but didn't deliver the final ball."

Burton v Forest Green
Burton manager Nigel Clough could be without midfielders Chris Hall (thigh) and Keith Gilroy (knee) for Saturday's clash against Forest Green. Defender Andy Corbett is also unavailable for the Brewers after the club's appeal against his dismissal in the Scarborough game was rejected. Forest Green have no fresh injury worries ahead of the game. Striker Guy Madjo may start but long-term casualties Paul Wanless, Jon Richardson and Adam Garner are all out.
