Briatore strengthens QPR control
Flavio Briatore has been appointed chairman of QPR Holdings Limited, the parent company of QPR as he tightens his control over the club.
Renault F1 chief Briatore, who alongside fellow Grand Prix mogul Bernie Ecclestone and billionaire steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal completed a takeover of the Championship club in November, was appointed following a board meeting last week.
Amit Bhatia, who is Mittal's son-in-law, has been named vice-chairman while Gianni Paladini remains chairman of the football club.
Rangers, who were languishing at the foot of the table when Briatore arrived, are now up to 18th place and are just nine points adrift of a play-off place.
Briatore, Ecclestone and Mittal bankrolled a spending spree of around £5million for manager Luigi De Canio during the January transfer window.
