Ebbsfleet bag Brentford's Charles
Ebbsfleet United have completed the signing of Brentford defender Darius Charles on a season-long loan.
Charles had a spell with the Kent club towards the end of last season and started eight matches for Fleet during that period.
The 20-year-old made his debut for the Bees in the 2004/05 season after progressing through the youth ranks at the club.
Charles has started 25 matches for Brentford, scoring once.
He has also had a loan spells at Crawley Town and Sutton United.
Brentford will get better - Scott
Brentford manager Andy Scott believes his side will show further improvements as the season progresses.
The Bees moved up to third in League Two after Monday night's 1-1 draw at Notts County.
Scott told London 94.9: "We've got a lot of young players, and it's a tough league.
"When you're playing against players that have played in the Premier League for the majority of their career it's improving their education."
Scott added: "They're realising what mistakes they're making, we can highlight different things but we're highlighting mistakes and we're not getting beaten and that's a good thing."
Brentford are now unbeaten in nine league matches, with their only defeat so far coming on the opening day of the season at Bury.
However Scott has issued a caution to supporters: "Because it's started so well everyone gets carried away. We're a young developing side and I think if we were just on the verge of the play-offs and played some of the stuff that we've played then everyone would still be happy.
"Because we're third everyone thinks 'right we're going to get automatic promotion', we've got to slow ourselves down a little bit."
Scott asks MPs to join campaign
Brentford boss Andy Scott visited the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday as part of his bid to get all footballers screened for sudden death syndrome.
Scott's own career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a life threatening heart disorder.
Scott, who is patron of Cardiac Risk in the Young, told London 94.9: "It's CRY awareness week and we're trying to highlight what's going on.
"We want MPs to become involved in actively promoting this."
He added: "It's a parliamentary reception that we've had for the last three or four years.
"The numbers have gone up from eight to 12 young people dying per week of a sudden death syndrome.
"It's a huge amount of people that are dying from these problems and if screening was widely available we could drastically reduce those numbers."
"We've had the CRY mobile screening unit at Brentford and they screened all the players in one afternoon.
"It's something that every club can take part in but we are trying to introduce it in football in general."
Elder extends Brentford contract
Brentford striker Nathan Elder has signed a one-year extension to his existing contract at Griffin Park.
The 21-year-old, a £35,000 signing from Brighton in January, agreed a deal that lasts until the summer of 2010.
Bees boss Andy Scott told the club website: "It's still early days in terms of Nathan's career.
"He is an asset to the club and in time he can be an even bigger asset. If he continues to improve he can be a valuable player for us."
Elder picked up his fifth booking of the season in last weekend's draw with Shrewsbury Town, as a result will miss Saturday's home game against Rochdale.
The forward has scored eight goals in 29 games for Brentford.
Wilson makes Bristol City return
Defender James Wilson has returned to Bristol City after completing a three-month loan spell at Brentford.
City manager Gary Johnson told the club website: "Brentford did very well in his time there and he was part of that.
"He's proved to himself and to us that he's going to be a very good player in the future."
Wilson said: "I really enjoyed the loan spell and it's given me lots of experience. I feel like I've improved in every department."
The 19-year-old made 16 appearances for the Bees, who currently lie ninth in League Two.
There has been speculation that Wilson could return to Brentford in January, but Johnson said that is unlikely.
"There's always interest to keep a player when de does well," he added.
"But they have to remember that he's our Championship player and we need to see where we go when we get to that stage."
Brentford to make Mills complaint
Brentford are to report Rotherham midfielder Pablo Mills to the Football Association over the incident that left Nathan Elder with facial injuries.
Elder suffered a fractured eye socket and cheekbone after an aerial challenge with Mills during Saturday's 0-0 draw.
Brentford boss Andy Scott told the club website: "He's unlikely to have vision in his left eye for months. I feel it's my duty that it doesn't go unpunished."
Rotherham boss Mark Robins said: "All Pablo has tried to do is win the ball."
He continued to Radio Sheffield: "When I saw the challenge first hand it looked like a strong challenge to say the least but Pablo is looking at the ball. Pablo didn't swing his elbow but there was always going to be contact.
"There was no way that Pablo would intend to hurt or injure an opposing player.
"It's a horrendous injury and I wish Nathan a speedy recovery."
Referee Karl Evans took no action following the incident, which resulted in Elder spending the weekend in hospital.
Scott added: "Whatever the outcome, Nathan's season is over, but what we all can promise is that we will do everything in our power to make sure the next time he pulls on a Brentford shirt, it will be in League One."
