Boss Jeffrey hails Dickson winner
Linfield boss David Jeffrey has hit out at the Larne supporters who taunted their former hero Mark Dickson during Saturday's CIS Cup match at Windsor.
Dickson silenced the visiting fans by scoring the late winner to clinch a 3-2 triumph for the cup holders.
\"They were shouting 'who are you?' Well, if they had forgotten, him they will not forget him now,\" said Jeffrey.
\"It was a fantastic header and for the team to come back from two down with 10 men was just phenomenal.\"
Jeffrey admitted he did not see the incident which resulted in Paul McAreavey being dismissed after just five minutes.
\"I am disappoinetd for Paul because he has been in such a rich vein of form, scoring four goals so far,\" said the Blues supremo.
\"Larne then scored a goal against the run of play and it was down to an individual error which was disappointing.
\"At the interval I told the players to show the same self-belief but then we went 2-0 down as Larne scored a great free-kick, it was well-worked.
\"We scored three headed goals. We have worked hard at crossing, it is one of the key areas I concentrate on with the players.\"
