Borrowdale signs on loan from QPR?
According to reports Gary Borrowdale would rather play for the Southend United in League One than waste his time at QPR in the Championship! The defender spoke to club officials this week demanding to know why the club had bought him in from Coventry if they weren't going to play him. As a result, Borrowdale is willing to drop down a league and go on-loan with Southend rather than not getting a game at Loftus Road! A QPR source said: "You have to feel for the lad. He thought he would be given a chance, and boss Paulo Sousa was thinking about offloading Delaney before he came back into form. But Borrowdale wasn't match fit when he came to Rangers, and either Matt Connolly or Delaney can fit into the left-back spot, so it could be that Gary will be sold at the end of the season without ever playing for the club." Tough for Jonny Herd, he's played well over the last few weeks, though Gary may start left midfield. In other transfer news Dan Harding, the previous left back before Johnny, has gone to Reading on loan until the end of the season, good move for him and good luck. The Borrowdale Files Borrowdale began his career at Crystal Palace, and made his debut aged 17 in December 2002. He gave a good performance and made a regular place for himself in the first team, quickly making the transition to first-team football and becoming a regular member of the first XI. At just age 21 he made his 100th appearance for Palace, and looked to have a big future, collecting the club's "Young Player of the Year" award to cap some strong performances in the 2006/07. However, this would be his last at Selhurst Park. With his contract expired, he opted to join former Palace boss Ian Dowie to Coventry City, for a tribunial fee of £650k. At Coventry his career has stuttered somewhat, with the team struggling and Dowie sacked, resulting in Borrowdale spending most of the season on the sidelines. In September 2008, he joined the Farmers on a month long emergency loan. He started his first match for Colchester on September 26. On 23 November 2008, he became QPR manager Paulo Sousa's first loan signing since taking over at the club. He signed with the club on a permanent contract on 2 January 2009 for a reported knock down fee of £125,000.
