Boothroyd emerges as top target
Former Watford boss Aidy Boothroyd has emerged as a leading contender to take over as manager at Loftus Road. According to reports, QPR co-owners Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone are giving serious consideration to Boothroyd as they search for a replacement for Paulo Sousa. Boothroyd left Vicarage Road in November and a source close to him told the London Paper: "Aidy wants to get back into football as soon as he's offered the right job." Since taking over at QPR, Briatore and Ecclestone have had six managers in less than two years and it is thought the Loftus Road hierarchy would require instant success from whoever takes over at QPR. Former Ipswich boss Jim Magilton is also reportedly among the candidates to become the next QPR boss but Boothroyd, who guided Watford to the Premier League in 2006, is the firm favourite to take the job.
