BIRCHAM HOPES TO RETURN SOON
QPR midfielder Marc Bircham hopes he will return in eight weeks - despite the club's claim he would not play again this season.
The 28-year-old was due to undergo surgery on Tuesday on a back problem which Rangers had said would rule him out of action for the rest of the 2006/07 campaign.
But Bircham said: "I hope to be back in full training within seven weeks, and then playing one week after that.
"The specialist I saw said the problem was not that bad. I need to have my nerve canal widened."
Bircham is out of contract at the end of the season and has yet to be offered a new one.
