Beckham to miss Superliga match
David Beckham has been ruled out of Los Angeles Galaxy's game with Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara in Saturday's cross-border Superliga competition.
The 32-year-old has still not recovered from the ankle injury he picked up playing for England in the European Championship qualifiers on 6 June.
Beckham has only managed 12 minutes play since his high-profile move to the Galaxy, in a friendly against Chelsea.
He is expected to make his Major League Soccer debut at Toronto on 5 August.
Galaxy coach Frank Yallop called for patience amid the clamour to see Beckham in action.
The Superliga match with Chivas at the LA Coliseum is a sell-out but Yallop said: "That's football, you can't guarantee anyone playing.
People have to be patient, he's going to be here for the next five years

"Yes, we want David on the field - and yes, people have bought tickets to see David.
"But there will be plenty of opportunities to see him. We've got to make sure they see a good product too.
"We could stand him out there for five minutes and he could not touch the ball, maybe like he did in the Chelsea game, but I don't think we want to see that. I don't; the team doesn't - and I would think the fans don't either.
"People have to be patient, he's going to be here for the next five years.
"He's frustrated, he wants to play but he realised from the Chelsea game that he wasn't ready.
"He knows he has to get fit and healthy and be ready to help the team.
"It would have been great to have home from day one but you can't force a player when he's not ready and there is no way we're going to send him out if he's not ready to play."
Meanwhile, Paulo Wanchope has signed for MLS club Chicago Fire.
The 30-year-old former Derby, West Ham and Manchester City striker is not expected to play in Sunday's game at Toronto but should be available for the home match against Columbus on 4 August.
