Bath City sign Leon Jeanne as a sim card
Bath City have signed former Queens Park Rangers striker Leon Jeanne on on pay-as-you-go basis from Welsh League Division One side Cardiff Corinthians. The 30-year-old began his career at Loftus Road in 1997 but off-the-field issues have hampered his progress. "You don't see many players who excite you when they are just controlling the football," said Bath boss Adie Britton. "I'm aware of the problems he's had before. But, after getting to know him better I decided to give him a chance." Jeanne left QPR in 2001 to join hometown club Cardiff City, but made just two appearances for the Bluebirds. Since then, he has plied his trade in non-league Welsh football before coming to the attention of Adie Britton. "Bath City is a club continuing to exceed expectations. We do this by giving 100% all of the time. All of my players know this, and Leon knows it too. "He is aware of our standards and our work ethic. As long as he adheres to those, and continues to work hard, he will remain with the team and do very well with us. "He's had fitness issues recently. He has shown dramatic improvement in the last few months, but he still needs to do more. "I see him in the near future as an impact player. He'll need to work very hard on the physical aspects of his game to make the starting line-up. But I'm sure his talent will excite people." Jeanne goes straight into Bath's squad for their game against Crawley Town on Tuesday night.
