Stein signs new deal with Barnet
Ex-Chelsea and Stoke striker Mark Stein, who has been the physiotherapist at Barnet since June 2007, has signed a new two-year deal.
Stein will continue his role as physio working alongside manager Paul Fairclough and assistant Ian Hendon.
As a player, Stein scored nearly 250 goals for nine different clubs.
He served Luton, Aldershot, QPR, Oxford, Stoke, Chelsea, Ipswich and Bournemouth before finishing his playing career at Dagenham & Redbridge.
Barnet ponder emergency signing
Barnet manager Paul Fairclough might have to bring in a central defender on loan to compensate for Ismail Yakubu's long-standing groin injury.
The 23-year-old defender also suffered from a blister during the Bees' 2-1 defeat by Bury on Saturday.
The skipper was unable to train on Monday and has had to adapt his training schedule to allow him to play.
Fairclough and physiotherapist Mark Stein will assess him ahead of Saturday's clash against Grimsby.
If there are doubts about his fitness then it is likely that Fairclough will seek a loan signing.
Fairclough told the club's website: "We would be stretched at the back again if Ismail is unfit."
Jeremy de Magalhaes, 24, will also be re-assessed by Mark Stein on Wednesday after being sidelined with a serious right groin muscle injury but it is believed that he is still more than a month away from first-team action.
Barnet suffer Akurang injury blow
Barnet forward Cliff Akurang will be out of action for up to six weeks after learning he has a fractured foot.
The 27-year-old only discovered his injury while undergoing a check-up for a possible chest problem.
He was X-rayed after suffering from shortness of breath during training but was found to be all-clear.
Akurang decided to get his foot examined while he was receiving medical attention, and it was then that doctors found a small fracture in his foot.
Barnet manager Paul Fairclough revealed the news on Monday night after he received a report from the club doctor.
Akurang is expected to return to action in late November or early December.
Meanwhile, Barnet have made 19-year-old winger Kieron St Aimie available for transfer or loan, although he would not be able to leave permanently until the transfer window reopens in January.
St Aimie recently had a month on loan at Grays.
Injury blow for Barnet's Devera
Barnet's player of the year Joe Devera is likely to be sidelined for a month.
The 21-year-old defender suffered a medial ligament strain in Saturday's FA Cup 1-1 draw with Rochdale.
Midfielder Max Porter slotted in for Devera but it is likely that the Bees will look to bring in a loan player to cover the youngster's absence.
Devera will have a scan on Thursday to check the extent of the damage as physiotherapist Mark Stein is worried about possible cartilage damage.
He has only missed one game so far this season.
Veteran Breen set to join Barnet
Veteran centre-back Gary Breen is set to join League Two strugglers Barnet as player-coach, subject to a medical, after training with the Bees on Monday.
The 34-year-old has played for eight League clubs including Gillingham, Peterborough, Birmingham, Coventry, West Ham Sunderland and Wolves.
However, he has been a free agent since leaving Wolves during the summer.
He also made 63 appearances for the Republic of Ireland and played in every minute of the 2002 World Cup campaign.
Breen, whose parents live in Barnet, began his career as a trainee at Charlton before joining Maidstone.
